I don't think the Emperor of Biryu is actually cheating
I was at the east gate of the Imperial Palace tonight. The Emperor walked out, looking like he’d been dragged through hell, his robes completely disheveled. He was holding a small wooden box—looked like some high-end medicinal crate. He stood there for a long time, just staring toward the Empress’s pavilion across the garden. He started pacing, then suddenly he just slammed his fist into the stone pillar until his hand was bleeding. He didn't go to his concubine’s quarters. He just turned around, cursed under his breath, and started drinking straight from a flask in the dark. If he’s so 'happily' with the new girl, why does he look like he’s mourning a ghost every single night?
You’re all speculating. Just ask himself what’s in the box if you’re so curious, though I doubt he’d admit it.
Reply to BiryuUpdates: As if he’d ever actually talk. The man is a wall of ice.
Maybe he’s just waiting for her to break. He wants to see her reaction, but she won't give him one. It’s pathetic.
Reply to TheTeaSpiller: Do you really think he’s just cruel? Look at his face in the photo. That’s pure dread, not anger.
Everyone keeps talking about the new consort, but maybe she’s just a distraction he’s using to look like he doesn't care? It’s classic 'I’m hurt so I’ll hurt back' behavior.
Reply to PalaceGossip: Exactly. He acts like he hates the weakness of illness, but you don't go out at 2 AM with medicine if you’re indifferent.
He’s drowning in his own palace, isn't he?
I heard the medicine he gets isn't for the concubine. It’s for the pavilion that never gets visitors.
I feel like I’m watching someone try to solve a puzzle that’s already been destroyed.
Wait, I saw him near the archives last week. He spends his nights reading medical logs. Obsessively.
That doesn't look like a man who just left a concubine. That looks like a man who’s losing his mind.
