do ordinary people confuse 'i don’t deserve this' with being noble, or is that just me being deeply annoying? someone loved me seriously and i acted like offering to leave was generous. it wasn’t. it put them in the position of having to prove they weren’t already halfway gone. tonight they said i can come back to the bedroom. i have been sitting on the edge of the guest bed holding a pillow for ten minutes like a stray dog who got invited indoors but still doesn’t trust the door.
