So I was grabbing a late-night snack in a hotel lobby halfway across the world, and there he was. No entourage, just a hoodie over a messy head, and he looked completely wiped. He wasn't on his phone, he wasn't checking the time—he was literally just standing there in front of the vending machine staring at a box of chocolate crackers like it was a complex physics problem. He grabbed like six of them, paid without saying a word, and left. I thought he was just another guest until he turned and I saw that face. But the weirdest part? He looked like he was bracing for something, like he just wanted to get back to his room and lock the door for good. I’ve never seen someone look so successful and so lonely at the same time.
