Who is the guy at Ironworks who basically lives in the corner with his phone?
Saw him again tonight. Doesn't matter if the gym is packed or empty, he just sits there on the bench, not lifting, just staring at his screen like he’s waiting for a signal. People go up to talk, gym buddies try to drag him to a game, and he just gives this tight, polite smile and shuts them down instantly. Then back to the phone. He looks like the friendliest guy on campus until you actually try to get his attention. What is so important that he’s blowing off everyone else for it?
OP here, I’m still at the gym and he hasn't moved for twenty minutes. It’s starting to get creepy.
Reply to pogee_scoop: Leave him alone dude lol.
Good luck. I’ve known him since high school, trust me, you guys are just wasting your time trying to figure him out. He’s already taken by his own obsession.
Reply to jess_chen_nyc: Spill the tea? Is he really that intense?
Wait, that’s just Marcus. He’s always at Ironworks, but yeah, he’s definitely in his own world. I tried to recruit him for our flag football team last week and he looked at me like I asked him to donate a kidney.
Reply to gym_rat_99: Right? He’s in my lab class and he’s the chillest guy ever until you bring up his personal life.
Does he even have a girlfriend? Or is he just weird?
I saw him at that coffee shop in Williamsburg, same vibe. Just sitting there staring at the door. It’s actually kind of intimidating?
That’s my gym partner! Can confirm, he’s a beast at deadlifts but yeah, his social battery dies the second he touches his phone after sets.
Whatever, he’s just a workout bro. Maybe he’s just antisocial. Not everyone needs to be in a group chat.
I think he’s waiting for someone. He checks his phone every thirty seconds. My money is on a secret girlfriend who doesn't even go to NYU.
