boss got set up at dinner tonight. I stood three yards away and watched someone hand over a card. watched boss smile politely too. Rationally, I know I have no right to interfere. Professionally, I am a junior colleague. Legally, obviously, I am a normal citizen with excellent self-control. But if someone remembers three years of your missed meals, your coffee order, the cologne that gives you a headache, and the exact way your voice changes when you say 'I'm fine' and mean the opposite... is that really just a coworker? I behaved tonight. I gave them my coat. called the car. reminded them to lock the door. Very normal. Very restrained. So I think I deserve praise.
