i just watched the most intimidating sound guy in brooklyn lose his mind over a bodega cat

so i’m grabbing a late night drink near the corner, and i see this guy—you know the type, all black, lip ring, looks like he’d deck you for walking too loud. he’s leaning on the brick wall, ice cold, just watching the street. then this mangy cat, missing an ear, trots up. the guy immediately softens, pulls this premium-looking foil bag of tuna out of his coat, and starts talking to it. like, actual gentle cooing, kneeling down on the dirty sidewalk. he looked at the cat like it was the only thing in the city that mattered. then he just stood up, lit a cigarette, and went right back to staring at the skyline like a statue. who is this dude?

does he talk though? like, does he actually speak in full sentences to humans?

Reply to studio_rat: rarely. he’s a mute until the sound is right.

wait, is that him? i’ve been trying to get him to work on my mix for months. he won't even reply to my emails but he’s out here feeding strays?

Reply to soundcheck_kid: he doesn't want your money, he wants peace. probably prefers the cat to your tracks.

the silence is weirdly what makes him compelling? i want to know what's going through his head when he's not busy.

i've seen him on his balcony. always alone. always smoking. this is the first time i've seen him look 'soft' at anything.

everyone leaves him alone because he’s the best engineer in the city, period. talk to if you actually want to see if he's 'intimidating' or just over people.

the duality is insane. he looks like he’s about to start a fight and then he’s just… doing that.

that’s Barnaby. that cat is a menace, bites everyone. i’ve never seen anyone else get close to it.

that’s the guy who does the studio work at the loft on 4th. seen him before. he literally ignores everyone that tries to talk to him at the deli.
