Is it normal for an EA to treat the CEO's office like a private sanctuary?

I was waiting in the lobby for a meeting and watched the assistant just walk into the CEO's glass office without knocking. She didn't drop off files or leave anything. She just stood there by the desk for a solid minute, perfectly still, looking at the empty chair with this intense, heated expression. When she finally moved, she rearranged a single pen on the desk by maybe two millimeters to make it perfectly symmetrical. She didn't look like she was working; she looked like she was waiting for a ghost. Then she looked straight at the lobby glass and held my gaze until I had to look away. What kind of assistant does that?

She’s not waiting for a ghost. She’s waiting for the CEO. And she’s absolutely terrified of someone else coming in to change her routine.

Reply to TheClimber: The way she looked at me felt like I was trespassing in her territory.

Everyone knows controls that office. You think the CEO makes those schedules? Please.

Reply to TechVibeChecker: Wait, really? She seems too soft-spoken for that.

Wait, is this the one from the floor? She's notorious for being the most efficient person in the building, but this sounds like she's borderline obsessive.

Reply to SeattleGridlock: I work in the same tower. Can confirm, she's never seen without that look.

Why would she even care about a pen? That’s weirdly specific.

I've seen her grabbing black coffee at 7 AM every day. She’s like a machine. A very intense, scary machine.

This is giving me massive HR warning vibes. If she’s lingering like that, someone needs to step in.

I mean, if she's that good, maybe she deserves to be the boss? She definitely looks like she wants to be.

That is definitely not 'assistant' behavior. That's 'I run this place' behavior.
