The Upper East Side's most eligible CEO is officially losing his mind in a supermarket aisle.
I was at the boutique grocery on 74th, just trying to grab some milk, when this guy walked in. It was Julian Ashford, in a charcoal sweater, looking like he was trying to solve an extremely difficult math equation with a loaf of artisan sourdough. He stood in the pasta aisle for ten minutes, just staring at the shelf, then pulled out a tiny moleskine notebook and started writing. He looked so stressed out, like he was negotiating a merger, not picking out dinner. He eventually bought a single bag of risotto rice and some tomatoes, but he checked the expiration dates four times. It’s wild to see someone who controls billions look so completely helpless over a grocery list.
I bet he’s trying to impress someone. You don't learn to cook risotto if you aren't trying to fix a massive screw-up at home.
Reply to RealTalk_99: Or he's just really, really lonely.
That’s definitely him. My friend works at Ashford Vale and says he’s been leaving at 6 PM sharp lately. Everyone is whispering that something major is going on at home.
Reply to UpperEastSideObserver: 6 PM? The guy usually lives in his office. This is insane.
I feel like I want to walk up and help him, but I’d be terrified he’d give me a performance review instead of a 'thank you'.
He's cute, but he looks like he's holding his breath. I wonder if he’s always like this, or if he’s just waiting for something?
It’s definitely . I’d recognize that posture anywhere. He’s the most rigid man in Manhattan.
Does anyone know what he was writing in that book? Maybe it's a list of people he's about to fire.
Honestly, he probably just doesn't know how to cook. These old-money guys think life is just a series of spreadsheets to be managed.
He looks so sad. My mom saw him at a gala last month and said he didn't say a word to anyone the entire time.
