I was grabbing an espresso near the port when this guy walked in. You know him as the guy who runs all the shipping lanes, but he didn't have his usual crew of suits with him. He sat alone at a corner table with a black espresso, looking like he was waiting for someone who never showed. Then his phone buzzed, he checked it, and he actually smirked. Not a cold one either. Someone at the next table dropped a glass and the whole place went dead silent waiting for him to snap, but he didn't even look up. He just stared at his screen like he was trying to solve a puzzle. I’ve seen him around the harbor a dozen times and he’s never looked… human before.
I saw him near the docks last night, just watching the waves. He looked like he was expecting someone. It was haunting.
