does anyone actually know why the star QB spends every free minute in the library basement?
so i was heading to the archives for a history paper and i walk past this booth, right? there he is. uniform still damp from practice, giant duffel bag shoved under the table, totally hunched over a battered copy of some victorian novel. like, zero attempt to look cool. zero entourage. just him, a cup of black coffee that looked like motor oil, and a highlighter. when someone from the team walked in looking for him, he didn't even look up, just signaled for them to go away like he was shooing a fly. he's supposed to be the guy everyone is talking about for the draft, so why is he obsessed with reading 19th-century prose in the dark?
he's not just reading, he's scouting. he knows exactly where people sit and when. he's way too observant for someone who acts like he's just there to kill time.
Reply to library_rat_88: wait, like stalking? that's creepy.
it's honestly so weird. i saw him reading dostoevsky in the locker room last week. he was ignoring the team leader's speech to finish a chapter.
Reply to lit_major_99: he's probably just doing it for the aesthetic. he's a jock, chill out.
he's just a guy, let him read his books lol.
coach miller hates this side of him. i've heard them arguing by the practice field because he keeps skipping extra conditioning for lectures.
i've sat near him a few times. he always has the same look on his face—like he's waiting for someone to prove him wrong. he loves the conflict more than the literature.
has anyone tried asking him directly? like what are you actually looking for in those books?
yeah he doesn't talk about football at all when he's with his friends. he just likes to debate people until they get annoyed and walk away.
i heard him arguing with a grad student about the interpretation of 'the picture of dorian gray' for like twenty minutes in the quad. he wasn't just reading it, he was genuinely heated.
