Apex Creative's 'Ice Queen' just had a moment in the lobby.

So I’m standing by the elevators at 15 Hudson Yards waiting for a friend. This woman—the lead designer everyone talks about—steps out of the elevator. She’s in that sharp, grey suit she always wears, looking completely untouchable as usual. Then, a junior employee—some guy from the mailroom, I think—comes rushing around the corner and spills his entire iced coffee all over her trousers. I froze. I expected her to lose it, maybe fire him on the spot. Instead, she just stops, looks down at the mess, and then literally reaches out and wipes a stray drop off his cheek with her thumb. She just smiled—this weird, soft, possessive smile—and told him, 'You're trembling, silly. Go fix your shirt.' It was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen in a corporate lobby. Is she always this... weirdly personal with her subordinates?

She’s the youngest Lead for a reason. Maybe she’s just testing him? Or maybe has a secret life nobody knows about.

Reply to OfficePolitic: Testing him? She looked like she was claiming him.

I work at Apex. Trust me, she doesn't do 'personal'. She is a total ice block to everyone. Who is that guy?

Reply to DesignBuffNYC: He's just an intern. I've never seen him around her before.

Does she actually care about him, or is it a power move? I can't tell.

If I spilled coffee on her, I’d be hiding in a closet for a week. How is he still standing?

The 'Ice Queen' isn't cold when she's alone. Seen her at a cafe before, she's intense.

Wait, is she dating him? If this gets out, HR at Apex is going to be a nightmare.

I saw this too! She looked like she owned him. It was honestly kind of scary how quickly the dynamic shifted.

That isn't a professional gesture. That's way too intimate for a workplace interaction.
