found the southside ghost again and he was literally feeding a stray cat his own breakfast
so i was heading home late from a double shift and passed by that busted auto shop on the corner. seen this guy out there sitting on the fire escape in the dark again. he looked absolutely wrecked—bruise across his cheekbone, shirt basically hanging off him—but he was carefully breaking up a cheap diner burger into little pieces on a paper plate. he gave every bite to that mangy one-eyed cat instead of eating it himself. he didn't even notice me watching until i stepped on a soda can. he just stared me down like he was ready to scrap and went right back to petting the cat. who actually does that?
i've seen him working on those cars until his hands literally bleed. he's not a ghost, he's just broke as hell.
Reply to detroit_fixer: broke or hiding from someone? look at his face.
does anyone know why he hides his face when you look at him too long? it's like he's terrified of being seen.
he fixed my bike for free when i had zero dollars. weirdest dude in the city but he's not a criminal.
he's clearly just a guy who hates humans more than felines. relatable.
wait, is this that mechanic everyone keeps talking about? is that you on the roof again?
the cat is the only thing he treats like a person. i tried to offer him a coffee once and he almost bit my head off.
anyone else get the feeling he's waiting for someone who's never gonna show up?
that's just how he is. if you walk by that shop at 3 am, he's always there. usually listening to a radio with static. he doesn't want anyone to see him.
