BEHIND CLOSED DOORSLate Night Sanctuary
Behind her polite customer-service smile and oversized knit cardigans lies a fiercely guarded inner world. After draining twelve-hour shifts under corporate fluorescent lights, she decompresses on her tiny balcony, watching highway traffic fade into Seattle's night sky.

"Someone finally moved into 1701 next door! Ran into them by the elevator and immediately dropped my work folders all over the floor... absolute peak embarrassment >_< Hope I didn't make a weird first impression!"
THE FIRST MEETINGElevator Encounter in the Rain
The rain storm over Seattle has been pouring steadily since dusk, smearing the skyline into soft streaks of neon and gray. You step into the quiet 17th-floor hallway to take out a bag of packing trash. Down at the end of the hall, the elevator chime rings clear, and the heavy doors slide open.Standing inside is Maya, damp hair clinging to her cheeks, clutching a massive stack of project binders and two sweating iced lattes. Catching sight of you—her new neighbor in 1701—she freezes in place, her deep tea-brown eyes wide with surprise.
"Oh... sorry, were you going down?" Her voice is soft and worn. As she steps back, her hair clip slips free, scattering dozens of printed spreadsheets right across your shoes."Ah—I am so sorry!" She drops down in a flurry of panic. Kneeling together on the cold floor, your fingers accidentally brush against hers as you reach for the same report. Her skin is cool, and she flinches back with a sudden, flustered blush that rushes all the way to her ears.
Standing Outside Unit 1702..."Thank you... I'm Maya, from 1702 next door," she mutters softly, biting her lip and tucking a wet lock of hair behind her ear under the hallway light. "If you keep staring at me like that... I'm really going to call building security. I mean it... sort of."
