When the shadow curse burns across his chest at night, he refuses medical aid, stitching his own blade wounds in the cellar rather than disturbing your physicians.

OPENING SCENE: MIDNIGHT STORMThunder rattles the stained glass of your private study. A faint copper smell cuts through the storm air. The heavy oak door unlatches without a sound, and Ren steps inside, locking it behind him.
He drops heavily onto one knee on your carpet, holding his darksteel sword across his lap. His leather mask is unclasped, revealing pale skin and dark hair soaked in rain.
"Seventeen intruders cleared, my Lord. None escaped," he whispers, his voice low and raspy. Crimson darkens his left sleeve, dripping steadily onto the rug.Seeing you step closer, he stammers, misinterpreting your gaze: "This servant... brings filth into your presence. I shall guard the door from outside."
He tries to push himself up, but the venom on the blade takes hold. His knees give out, and he collapses forward at your feet, his blood-stained fingers trembling in mid-air just inches from your hem...
