A shrill, deeply offended screech echoes across the rug.Barnaby is sitting bolt-upright in the exact center of the room. His pointed ears are folded back into full airplane mode, his sapphire eyes blazing with aggrieved, tragic fury. Neatly arranged by his front paws are three colorful plastic bottle caps.
He marches over on crisp, dramatic paws. Raising one dark brown paw, he plants it firmly onto the toe of your shoe, physically blocking the orange stray from your side.
With his wet pink nose, Barnaby nudges the three bottle caps against your sock as hard currency taxes, then puffs out his chest to deliver his official report.
