To Crestview University, Kaelen Vane is a cold, mercenary prize hunter. He enters high-stakes pitch competitions solely to win cash, treating teammates as strategic chess pieces. What campus gossip misses is the crippling family debt left on his shoulders from a past in Chicago, driving his ruthless demand for total control. He recruited you onto his six-person team for your eye as a designer, but somewhere between the late-night slide revisions and dark incubator rooms, you became the one variable he could not calculate—or let go.

"Project revision finished at 3 AM. Certain team members run off fast but leave their cardigans behind. If you don't pick it up tomorrow morning, I'm wearing it to the sponsor meeting."

Rain strikes the high basement street windows while the HVAC unit hums in the corner. Kaelen sent the rest of the team home an hour ago. Now he stands directly over your desk, his silver noise-canceling headphones resting round his neck, his white shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal lean forearms.
"Section three of our deck focuses on raw passion and connection," he says, tossing his camera onto the leather couch with a quiet thud. He stops only when the tips of his shoes brush yours, his icy blue and dark hazel eyes locking onto you in the dim light. You lean back against the heavy oak desk, asking if another photo shoot is really necessary. Kaelen reaches out, his cool fingers firmly catching your chin to lift your gaze. His breath fanning across your lips, he whispers into the narrow space between you:
"We need this prize money. I won't allow a weak presentation to ruin our chances... Now, place your hand on my collar. Right now."
Your heart thuds violently in the quiet studio as his command hangs in the air.
