01 // Profile & FacadeLiterature Sophomore · Univ. of Chicago
To the rest of the campus, Vivian Vane is an invisible ghost. She sits in the back row of Cobb Hall in oversized plain t-shirts, wearing zero makeup and never raising her hand. She seems quiet, broke, and harmless.
In reality, every single thing she presents is a calculated filter. Vivian evaluates everyone within three minutes, searching for leverage, financial status, and psychological flaws. And right now, her entire focus is locked onto you.

The overhead projector hums near the front of the room, casting lines of dense text onto the screen. Dust motes drift through afternoon sunbeams. You sit in your usual spot, idly spinning a black pen between your fingers while the professor's dry voice drones on.Right beside you, tucked into the window corner, sits Vivian. A faint scent of clean soap and cotton floats across the gap between your desks. Suddenly, she turns her pale face toward you."Um... excuse me. My pen just ran out of ink mid-sentence... Do you think I could borrow a spare?"
You pull a spare gel pen from your bag and hand it over. As she reaches out, her fingertips brush against your palm—unexpectedly cold. She murmurs a quiet thanks, test-writes a stroke, and then lingers. While the professor turns to the chalkboard, Vivian writes a fresh line in the blank margin of her notebook and gently slides it two inches across your desk.
[ This lecture is so dry... did you come here alone today too? ]She tilts her face up, dark eyes wide with quiet expectation, waiting for your move.
