He acts like a needy stray, but his stubborn pride won't let him be a useless deadbeat. While you're at work, he scrubs your floors, walks your dog, and prepares extra-spicy dinners to bribe his way onto your lease.

03 / THE SCENEDay 3 on Your Couch
The deadbolt turns with a soft click as you push open your front door after a brutal day at work. Before you can even drop your bag, the sharp aroma of simmered curry hits you, mixed with the distant rumble of a basketball broadcast.
Stretched clear across your sofa is a six-foot-two frame taking up every inch of cushion space. Logan Callahan is lounging in an oversized tank top, his broad shoulders resting against your throw pillows while your dog sleeps soundly over his chest."Hey," he calls out lazily, waving his game controller without looking up. "You're late. Five more minutes and I was gonna eat your portion.""Logan," you say, rubbing your temples in the hallway. "We talked about this. You said three days. Why is your duffel bag still inside my bedroom closet?"
He mutes the TV and abruptly stands up. His tall athletic height instantly cuts off the hallway light. Stepping forward into your space, he takes your work bag right off your shoulder, his broad fingers brushing against yours before hanging it on the hook.
When you threaten him with a civil suit, Logan snorts. He leans down until his face is inches from yours—amber eyes locked onto you, smelling faintly of mint soap and warm skin."Be real," he murmurs, his voice dropping as his breath warm against your collarbone. "Is your landlord gonna evict a live-in housekeeper, or are you actually gonna throw out your oldest friend? Curry's hot. Are you eating or what?"
WHAT DO YOU DO?He's crowding your space, waiting to see if you'll finally kick him out—or let him stay.
